As you can see, it takes a lot of people working together to help our members achieve their Bronze Medallion and SRC. If there is anyone I have not mentioned, I do apologise, please let me know and thank you.

We have successfully had 12 Bronze and 9 SRC’s from the October training week and another 9 Bronze from the adults part time course. It is great to see members from different areas of the club, from the cadets to the boaties to the nipper parents, coming together to work as a team.  It is an impressive achievement to complete these awards and the club congratulates the following members:

A special congratulations goes to Phil Mickan and Liz Green as they successfully trained their first Bronze crew. Phil has now completed the Training Officer Bronze Medallion Award and Liz completed a training module towards her Training Officer Certificate.

Phil has also completed the Training Officer Advanced Resuscitation Award and the Silver Medallion Advanced Emergency Care Award this season which is an amazing achievement.

Thanks to Jonathan Farrell, our club has the privilege of a senior assessor to train and assess more courses to enhance the skills and qualifications of our members. Jonathan has given up his time to prepare, train and assess courses in ARC, Spinal Management and Defibrillation, and the club is forever grateful.  Not only does Jonathan do this for our club, but he represents Collaroy and helps other clubs without assessors achieve their awards.

If there is anyone else that has not been mentioned, please email me to notify of your course.

A reminder to all members, when completing a course through our club or another, please copy me in on the email atchiefinstructor@collaroysurfclub.com.auso I can chase up your award afterwards.

There are many courses being run through our club and also offered by branch for our members to enhance their skills. It is always good to check the branch website onwww.surflifesaving.net.auto see what courses are running.

As well as the time given up for courses, another thank you goes to Jonathan Farrell and Greg MacMahon for conducting all the different proficiencies this season. Thank you also to Mick Tomblin, Kate Green, Liz Green and Phil Mickan for assisting too. It is an important and large task to complete to make sure our lifesavers and march past teams are equipped with the skills to help save lives.

Our last SRC/Bronze training week is fast approaching on Monday 11th Jan through to Friday 15th January. There are still places left and I encourage everyone without this award to come along and have fun. Andrew Sole will be the main trainer of this course but help is still needed. If you are available to assist with water safety or lunches, please email me at the chief instructor address above and I will forward it on to Andrew.

Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude personally to all the people that have assisted me so far this season. I could not do this job without you.

Happy new year to everyone, and I’ll see you on the beach.

Kind regards

Karla Campbell
