Interbranch
Sydney Northern Beaches have taken out the 2008 Interbranch title which was held at Catherine Hill Bay last weekend (Dec 13&14). The team included 7 members from Collaroy; On the sand, Samantha Harmer (U17) was joined by Michael Kember (Opens) and Baden Donegal (U17). In the water, brothers Bart & Kendrick Louis teamed up for the first time in the U19's and were joined by Danielle Austin (U15) and Mitchell Trim (U17). Legend coach Bobby Langbein was also joined by Sue Rossi in the Tour Management party.
Conditions were treacherous on the Friday evening when the team arrived. By Saturday the swell had dropped marginally. All the water competitors contributed vital points with Kendrick winning the ski and a come from behind win in the Ironman a highlight. The beach competitors were sensational and SNB collected just on 80% of the points on offer on Day 1 which assisted SNB to lead the competition into Day 2. Michael & Baden taking gold in the Sprint & Flags respectively and Samantha a silver in the sprint. On Day 2 they smashed their rivals in the senior All Age Relay (literally 20 metres)
Day 2 in the water saw Bart & Kendrick take gold in the board rescue. Kendrick went on to anchor the Open Taplin and Life Saver Relay to the narrowest of silver medals with a half wave denying the gold medal. Mitchell was first to the cans in the Board Rescue to eventually take silver and it was virtually a Collaroy-a-thon in the U17 Taplin with Mitchell, Baden & Samantha taking Silver.
Thanks as always to Janine Black, John Fahey and Ray & Jeannette Issacs for officiating at the carnival too.
