Rescue Water Vehicle Operator's Certificate


To undertake this award approval must be gained from the relevant State Director of Lifesaving.

    


Pre-requisites

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age on the date of examination.

  • Hold a current SLSA Bronze Medallion.

  • Hold a current SLSA Silver Medallion (Life Support)

  • Hold a current SLSA Silver Medallion (Patrol Captain)

  • Hold a current NSW Waterways PWC Licence..

  • Have a vehicle licence to operate a tow vehicle.

  • Candidates should also hold a Silver Medallion (IRB)

  3. Rescue Procedures

  4. Search and Rescue


  • Demonstrate pre launch procedures.

  • Perform driving procedures.

  • Perform a rescue as an operator.

  • Communicate actions effectively.

  • Demonstrate emergency operator responses when required.

  • Demonstrate post patrol procedures.

  • Operate the tow vehicle of the service.

  • Demonstrate the roll over procedures.

Assessment

  • Satisfy the majority of the Examiners in respect to their competence in all learning outcomes by -

    - Written/oral examination.
    - Basic Skill Performance.
    - Rescue Scenario simulation.

  • For this award to remain current candidates are required to perform an annual proficiency test.
