To undertake this award approval must be gained from the relevant State Director of Lifesaving.
Be a minimum of 18 years of age on the date of examination.
Hold a current SLSA Bronze Medallion.
Hold a current SLSA Silver Medallion (Life Support)
Hold a current SLSA Silver Medallion (Patrol Captain)
Hold a current NSW Waterways PWC Licence..
Have a vehicle licence to operate a tow vehicle.
Candidates should also hold a Silver Medallion (IRB)
Content of Award
Search and Rescue
Demonstrate pre launch procedures.
Perform driving procedures.
Perform a rescue as an operator.
Communicate actions effectively.
Demonstrate emergency operator responses when required.
Demonstrate post patrol procedures.
Operate the tow vehicle of the service.
Demonstrate the roll over procedures.
Operate a Rescue Water Craft
Satisfy the majority of the Examiners in respect to their competence in all learning outcomes by -
- Written/oral examination.
- Basic Skill Performance.
- Rescue Scenario simulation.
For this award to remain current candidates are required to perform an annual proficiency test.
