Tucks Tales Queensciff 2007

Queenscliff 2007
The Collaroy team was out in force for the first time this season with 5 crews taking to the water…
2 x reserve, U/23 Men, U/23 Ladies & 2 x U/19 crews entered,
Queenscliff through up challenging conditions with 1-2 meter seas
The first carnival of the New Year saw the first outing for 3 of our crews…
The team on its first full outing for the season were quite a sight all dressed in full MPA kit, thanks to Shauno for all his effort getting the MPA sponsorship across the line.
The ISO turned many heads and is hands down the best looking boat on the beach, the tent is visible from the international space station overall the entire Collaroy set up is the sharpest on the beach.
The Spiders kicked off 2007 some of an unknown quantity they have welcomed back Dunks into the stroke seat and were keen to test their pre season work against a large contingent of crews. They as always were competitive through out the early rounds and qualified into the semi-finals. Their campaign finished here when the fuel tank was left on empty. Overall the spiders should be happy with their first performance of the season and with more time to build fitness I am sure they will feature predominately at the business end of the season.
Krakaz- Had a disrupted break with a new addition to the fan club and Simon’s fact finding expedition. The boys handled the conditions and continued their consistency making it into another semi-final. They found the going tough out of alley 1 and missed the final by 1 spot. The Krakaz should be pleased with their efforts and have set a good platform to launch into the business end of the season.
Garrick’s- Were lucky to survive the Christmas party let alone each other over the break. They were in good form all day winning both their rounds and topping the point score. With their best race to date they comfortably won their semi-final leaving all the other crews in their wake. Their perfect day was spoiled when they turned first in the final only to see another crew crack one from the tins, to compound things the boys were unlucky to get one up the Khyber pass and turn over when a comfortable second was on the offering.
Giggles- The girls had their first hit out of what could be said are their first real season. The testing conditions were of no concern to the girls who seemed to handle the conditions and were a stand out crew from their first stroke. The girls took this confidence through the rounds and stormed into the final. Boothie was able to get the best out of the girls through out the break and let all the way to the cans, they were also leading the way home when they suffered the same fate as the Garrick’s with one popping up behind them. The Giggles were able recover and finish a very commendable second. Well done girls……..
Crocker’s- Also had their first hit out for the season and unfortunately was found to be lacking in a few departments. U/19 is an established division and boys you are racing against some experienced crews. Don’t get too down, you need a lot of work but every crew has to start somewhere and all racing experience is experience in the bank. Keep chipping away at it and always have FUN….
Crumpets- Were not starters due to the testing conditions. But don’t worry guys you are just starting your rowing careers so there will be plenty of time for you guys to win medals. Keep up the work.. The Tuck is keeping a keen eye…………
